The civilizational (hadhari) community could be shaped in the Malaysian community through a formal education system. The approach which uses Qur’anic science philosophy combines social science and natural science with theological knowledge in the primary school curriculum could also realize and establish this community. It is undeniable with the emergence of modern science in the era of globalization causes the principle thinking of Qur’anic science philosophy to be isolated. The teachings of social science and natural science started to be separated from theological knowledge of which is more to the direction of materialistic elements compared to spiritual elements. Through reforming the national curriculum, primary school students, as the new generation, will form the foundation of thought in Qur’anic science philosophy which focuses on the existence of a civilizational community. This paper work will present the importance of this philosophy in the national education system exclusively in the Integrated Curriculum for Primary Schools (KBSR) which is the foundation to create the civilizational community

Relay selection for multiple access relay channel with decode-forward and analog network coding

This paper presents a relay selection for decode-and-forward based on network coding (DF-NC) and analog-NC protocols in general scheme of cellular network system. In the propose scheme the two source node simultaneously transmit their own information to all the relays as well as the destination node, and then, a single relay i.e. best with a minimum symbol error rate (SER) will be selected to forward the new version of the received signal. Simulation results show that, the DF-NC scheme with considerable performance has exactness over analog-NC scheme. To improve the system performance, optimal power allocation between the two sources and the best relay is determined based on the asymptotic SER. By increasing the number of relays node, the optimum power allocation achieve better performance than asymptotic SER.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures; International Journal of Distributed and Parallel Systems (IJDPS) Vol.3, No.2, March 201

Teachers’ Role in Teaching Speaking Against the Incongruencies between Curriculum and Curriculum Implementation

The English language has long been regarded as an important tool in creating a marketable human capital. To be involved with the current, highly competitive economy, a developing country needs to produce a generation of marketable human capital. This is of the utmost importance in achieving economic prosperity. Hence for developing countries like Malaysia, which regarded English as a second language, English is taught in school as a second language. However, the English Proficiency level of the new generation in Malaysia is dwindling and this affected the production of good human capital. Weaknesses that lead to the decline are both systemic and in its implementation as there exist lack of cohesiveness with the curriculum, the implementation and finally with the assessment. In the middle of this are teachers and their struggle in producing students who can use English communicatively. This paper aims to discuss the decline of speaking skills as a result of incongruencies of the curriculum and its implementation and teachers’ role in creating marketable human capitals amidst the existence of these incongruencies

Adsorption Cycle and Its Hybrid with Multi-Effect Desalination

    Get PDF
Adsorption (AD) cycle is recently pioneered for cooling and desalination applications. For water treatment, the cycle can be used to treat highly concentrated feed water, ranging from seawater, ground water, and chemically laden waste water. This chapter presents a review of the recent development of AD cycle and its hybridization with known conventional cycles such as the MED and MSF. We begin by looking at the basic sorption theory for different adsorbent–adsorbate pairs, namely the silica gel–water and the zeolite–water pairs. Under the IUPAC categorization, there are six types of isotherm behavior that capture almost all types of adsorbent–adsorbate behaviors and many isotherm correlations have been developed to described their uptake patterns, namely the Henry, Langmuir, Toth, etc. We have recently developed a correlation that can universally capture all six types of isotherms of IUPAC and it requires only four regression coefficients

Purpose of the study: This study aims to measure the readability of Second Grade Arabic Language books in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Methodology: This paper discusses a quantitative survey conducted, based on previous studies which include Momni and Momni (2011), Nasser and Ibrahimi (2013) and Lami and Zoaeni (2014), to examine readability problems in Arabic language books used in UAE schools. The researchers developed a Cloze Test and performed the test on a randomly selected sample of 387 Second Grade students. Both descriptive and inferential statistics (T-Test, ANOVA) were analysed using SPSS version 22 and to examine the readability of Second Grade Arabic Language books. Main Findings: The result indicates that the students’ average score in all the readability levels to the total score of the Cloze Test is at an unsatisfactory level. There are significant differences in the level of the poetic and prose texts’ readability among the genders and different academic averages. Applications of this study: This study provides evidence that the long-term goal of the Abu Dhabi Educational Council (ADEC) has yet to be achieved. The outcomes suggest that there is a need to improve students' readability of Arabic Language books in the UAE, starting from the Second Grade. Novelty/Originality of this study: Readability of Arabic Language Book was widely explained by other researchers, but there is no study conducted on Second Grade students in UAE

Performance Analysis of THz Enabled HetNets in Diverse Building Densities

    Get PDF
Beyond 5G networks require low latency, high throughput and high data rates while maintaining appreciable coverage. To achieve this, a wider bandwidth is required. Terahertz (THz) band can provide such large bandwidth, however, it is not as reliable as the sub 6 GHz band due to absorption effects. Hence, we need infrastructure level approaches such as heterogeneous networks (HetNet) that provide backwards compatibility to increase coverage and reliability. In this paper, we consider a HetNet comprised of small base stations at THz and mmWave frequencies, and macro base station at sub-6 GHz frequency at different building densities based on multiple cities around the world. For quality of service (QoS) performance metrics, we take data rate coverage and power efficiency. Different system parameters are varied for six different locations to analyze the effectiveness of the proposed HetNet. Our results show that B5G networks are considerably more effective in environments with low building densities
